If you want beautiful teeth, checkups and cleanings are some of the best ways to get them. By just getting 2 every year, you’ll avoid most major dental issues and your smile will always be full of confidence
When you come to see us, your appointment will typically start with a dental cleaning performed by one of our hygienists. Even if you brush and floss your teeth every day, there are still spots in your mouth you simply can’t reach at home, and this is where plaque and bacteria can gather and eventually cause a cavity. This cleaning will be able to target those spots and keep your teeth pristine between visits.
Afterward, Dr. Davis will perform a comprehensive oral exam where she’ll look for the early signs of tooth decay and gum disease. Depending on what she sees, she’ll form a treatment plan to give your smile exactly what it needs, and she’ll go over everything so that your next appointment will be even easier.
If you have a little smile at home, we’re happy to see it! Our team has extensive experience working with children, so we know exactly how to help them feel comfortable in a new environment. We’ll never rush them during their visit, and we’ll always do everything with a gentle touch. Plus, once you start bringing your child in for regular visits, you can basically use us as your own children’s dentistry Encyclopedia. We’ll always answer your questions so you can make sure your little smile grows to be big and strong.
This treatment is ideal for children who are still learning to take care of their teeth and adults who are prone to developing tooth decay. It involves your dentist applying a thin, clear layer of a composite resin to the teeth in order to shield them from bacteria and plaque. Normally, this only needs to be done to the back teeth because they are laden with rough surfaces and deep crevices.
Do you wake up with a sore jaw every morning? If so, you might have bruxism, which is a condition where a person unconsciously clenches their jaw and grinds their teeth at night. Over time, this can put so much pressure on the teeth that they actually break! To prevent this, we can provide you with a special mouthpiece called a nightguard. You’ll only wear it to bed, and it’ll serve as a protective barrier between your teeth to prevent them from grinding together.
Oral cancer is very easy to treat in its early stages, but most diagnoses happen when it has already spread to other parts of the body and become very serious. To prevent you from ever going through this experience, Dr. Davis will always perform an oral cancer screening during your regular checkup. She’ll examine your mouth, neck, cheeks, and gums for any signs of the disease, and she’ll let you know what to do if she finds anything that causes concern.
Fluoride has been used for decades to help battle tooth decay and cavities. It’s able to do this because once it is exposed to the teeth, it actually replenishes the minerals that give them their strength and durability. This is why you’ll often see it in toothpastes and public water sources. During your checkup, we’ll give you a quick and easy fluoride treatment so your teeth will have just that much more protection between appointments.
