Sedation Dentistry in Richardson, TX

You’ve been sitting in the dental office for just 5 minutes, and you can’t stop fidgeting and milling your hands. As soon as the front desk manager calls your name, your palms begin to sweat. The lights seem to brighten, and your stomach instantly turns into a knot.

Does this sound like you? If so, we completely feel for you. Dental phobia is one of the most common fears in the country, and it prevents millions of people from getting the care they need each year. We want to be able to help these kinds of patients, which is why we offer sedation dentistry. Thanks to these techniques, Dr. Meredith Davis and our team can calm both your nerves AND your mind so you can take care of your teeth in peace.

We are proud to offer the very best sedation dentistry services near Richardson, TX! Dr. Davis has extensive experience working both with individuals with special healthcare needs, as well as dental anxiety. Prior to administering the treatment, she will study your medical history and get to know you so that you get the safest, most effective level of sedation.

We offer the following sedation services at our Richardson dental office:

Oral Conscious Sedation

If just the thought of going to the dentist makes you feel skittish, then oral conscious sedation may be right for you. Dr. Davis will prescribe you an oral sedative to take the day of your appointment (probably while you’re still at home) so you can enjoy an anxiety-free visit.

Most people say it feels like they are wrapped in a warm blanket, and minutes often feel like seconds. You’ll still be awake and able to respond to the doctor, but many people leave our office with little or no memory of the procedure at all (which is perfect for some patients!).

Laughing Gas

This method of sedation is best for patients who are only slightly nervous about visiting the dentist. Laughing gas creates a light, almost floating feeling that will minimize any possible discomfort you may feel during a procedure. You’ll breathe in the odorless gas through a small mask placed on your nose, and after you are finished, it will be removed and you’ll feel completely normal again within minutes.
